1. What Verified Hikes provides
The Verified Hikes Registry accepts applications for evidence-reviewed trail completion records. When submitted material supports the requested record and review is complete, we may issue a digital certificate, signed metadata record, and public QR verification page. Applications may be waitlisted, invite-only, or capacity limited. Payment does not guarantee approval or certificate issue.
2. Independent registry status
Verified Hikes is an independent registry. A certificate is not an official trail-authority document unless explicitly marked Partner Confirmed or Authority Confirmed through an approved workflow. A relationship with a club, guide, event, or trekking business does not by itself create authority status.
3. Eligibility and accounts
Applicants must provide accurate account, contact, completion, and payment information and be able to accept these terms under applicable law. A parent or guardian should contact support before a minor submits evidence. You are responsible for securing account access and reporting suspected unauthorised use.
4. Evidence submission rules
You may submit only material you are entitled to use. Evidence must relate to the stated completion and must not be manipulated to misrepresent dates, route, identity, or participation. Do not upload identity documents, sensitive third-party information, or precise private locations unless specifically requested through the secure workflow.
- Use secure evidence upload rather than email.
- Explain route variants, transport sections, rest days, and gaps honestly.
- Do not submit malware, unlawful material, or another person’s private data without permission.
5. Review and clarification
We verify only what the submitted evidence supports. Reviewers may request clarification or more material. A rejection means the available evidence did not support the requested registry record; it is not a statement that the hike did not occur.
Review may consider route plausibility, dates, consistency, file safety, evidence source, and verification level. Suspicious or fraudulent material may lead to rejection, revocation, account restriction, or referral where law requires.
6. Certificates and public verification
Issued certificates contain a certificate ID, verification level, issue date, PDF fingerprint, registry signature data, and canonical verification route. Public pages use the selected privacy mode and expose safe certificate metadata only. Corrections after issue normally use revocation, reissue, or a linked replacement rather than silent alteration.
7. What the service does not certify
Verified Hikes does not certify safety, current trail conditions, permits, visa or immigration status, legal identity, medical fitness, race results, academic credit, employment qualifications, or professional competence. Hikers remain responsible for planning, local rules, weather, equipment, and safety.
8. Payments and refunds
Prices and taxes are shown before checkout where available. Payment status is confirmed by the payment provider. Refunds depend on review stage, duplicate or technical payment issues, work completed, applicable consumer law, and the published Refund Policy.
9. Acceptable use and intellectual property
You may share your own certificate and verification page. You may not forge, alter, scrape, interfere with, impersonate, or use the service to mislead. Verified Hikes branding, software, layouts, and editorial content remain protected; submitted evidence remains subject to your rights and the limited processing permission needed to provide the service.
10. Availability and liability
We aim to operate a reliable service but cannot promise uninterrupted availability. To the extent permitted by law, Verified Hikes is not responsible for trail incidents, travel decisions, third-party services, or reliance on a certificate outside its stated purpose. Nothing excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Material changes to these terms will be dated on this page.
